Increased Confidentiality

With the release of version 5.3, it is possible to mark cases as sensitive. Marking a case as sensitive places some restrictions on who can view the case. It also provides for additional warning messages and confirmations making it clear to users that the case has been marked as sensitive.

HIPAA requirements stipulate that anyone viewing patient information must have an approved medical or administrative need for doing so, and otherwise must ensure that patient information is kept confidential. All users are responsible for complying with HIPAA regulations, and this is true regardless of whether a case is marked as sensitive or not. Marking a case as sensitive provides an additional layer of visibility and security with regard to the confidentiality of patient information. Organizational policy will govern how the sensitive case feature is to be applied.
